Nuun Hydration Happy Hour at SMACK! Media’s Boulder Headquarters

On Thursday, July 12, Smack Media’s Shanna Burnette hosted a media event for Nuun and Nuun’s Chief Hydrating Officer, Mason Reay. The event was thrown in Shanna’s backyard of Boulder, Colorado on the rooftop of Bacaro Venetian Taverna, @bacaroboulder.

Mason chats with the Editors

The event was a huge success with some of the most respected editors and influencers in the endurance, fitness and outdoor industry. Tri-berry Nuun Active Hydration and Tangerine Lime Nuun All Day Hydration kept the guests hydrated while Nuun Lemon Lime, Lemon Tea and Strawberry Lemonade made low-cal, hydrating mixers for Nuuntinis and Nuunaritas! The eclectic mix of editors alongside friendly and outgoing Mason, made for a very fun night that went an hour longer than planned. Women’s Adventure Magazine, Competitor Magazine, Outdoor Elevation, Running Times, Runner’s World, Men’s Journal, Outside Magazine, Backpacker, Bicycle Retailer, Trail Runner, Shape, Fitness, Women’s Health, Triathlete, Inside Triathlon, Her Sports, Bike, Powder, Ski Magazine, Skiing Magazine, Snowboard Magazine, Velo, Allure, Esquire, Hemispheres, espnW, and Men’s Fitness were all respectfully represented at the event.

Brian Metzler, Rachel Sturt and Shanna

Following the happy hour event, Mason and Shanna joined Steve Frothingham, editor at Bicycle Retailer, and Neal Rogers, Editor in Chief of VeloNews for dinner at Brasserie Ten Ten for a fun dinner full of interesting and informative topics about cycling, Tour de France and optimal hydration.

On Friday morning, Mason and Shanna met with the very influential editor, Lisa Jhung who contributes to Outside Magazine, Runner’s World, Running Times, Triathlete, Men’s Journal, Shape and many more. They all attempted a run up Sanitas Mountain, which quickly became a hike/jog up and talkative run on the way down. Hardest and longest 5k you could imagine, and a nice welcome to Boulder’s quick elevation gains. The sea level boy gave the two elevation girls more hurt than they anticipated! Mason and Shanna then got the new office tour of Retul Bike Fitting Studios @retul, said hello to the folks at the Competitor office, met the boys at Panache Cyclewear, and had lunch of fresh bread, cheese and cured meat at Cured @curedboulder owned by former professional cyclist of Garmin-Slipstream Will Frischkorn.

The Hudson Training Systems Running Group–Can you spot Mason in orange?

On Saturday night Mason and Shanna met up with some former Buffaloes, Olympians and National Champions for a fun dinner, trash talking and, of course, ice cream. This was followed up with a Sunday morning early long run with Shanna’s running coach, Brad Hudson and the Hudson Training Systems team, @HudsonTSystems. Mason was “the highlight of the run” and kept everyone on the hot run hydrated and recovered with Nuun. His 10-mile run was with past and upcoming Olympic runners and hometown favorite triathlete Matt Reed, @boomboomreed. Matt had him feeling the joys and pains of altitude running.

The runners re-hydrated post-run with Nuun Hydration of course!

The Nuun weekend couldn’t have been better!
